In support of the Sigourney-Keota Cobra Football Team's quarterfinal game against Van Meter, in Van Meter, Iowa, the SCSD will have a 1:30 PM early out on Friday, November 4, 2022. The Keota CSD will have an early release this Friday as well. Let's go SK Cobras!

Fire Prevention Week is October 9-15. Earlier this week K-3rd grade students visited the Sigourney Fire Station and learned about fire safety. On Tuesday, one student from each grade got a special ride to school in the fire truck. Thank you Sigourney Fire Dept for keeping our community safe and this opportunity for our students. The Sigourney Community School District will dismiss at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. Extremely high humidity and heat are expected by mid-afternoon making teaching and learning difficult. Thank you.
During the month of September, the Sigourney Public Library will be making up care packages to send to deployed military members. To join forces with the Sigourney Public Library, our Sigourney HS National Honor Society members will also be collecting items for these military care packages.
We are asking the Sigourney CSD to get involved and collect items to include in the packages. Packages will be mailed out on October 1st, so we will accept donations at the school until Friday, September 30th.
The NHS students will set up collection boxes around the Jr./Sr. High building for you to place your donations.
Some ideas include:
*beef jerky or meat sticks
*travel size hygiene items (shampoo, conditioner, deodorant)
*snacks (things that won't get smashed or melt in transit)
*sunblock and chapstick
*socks
*granola/energy bars
*trail mix
*single-serving drink mixes
*easy mac
*instant coffee
*chewing gum
*shaving cream and razors
*hair ties
*dental hygiene (toothbrush, toothpaste, floss)
*puzzle books, magazines
*air fresheners
*unscented body wipes
Any and all participants and donations will be welcomed. Let's make our troops proud and help send them the BEST care packages!
