We are excited to start our first day of school tomorrow! To help make the process smoother, I wanted to send a reminder on our morning drop off and after school pick up procedures.
Morning Drop-Off Procedures – We ask that students not be dropped off before 8:00 a.m., as supervision does not begin until that time. When the 8:00 bell rings, students may enter through the playground doors and go downstairs to breakfast if they are eating at school. All other students should remain outside on the blacktop in their class lines. Staff will be available on the playground to help students find their class lines. All car riders must use Shuffleton Street for drop-off. We ask that you remain in your vehicle and pull all the way forward before your child exits the vehicle. Parents should remain in their vehicles at all times during drop-off. If you need to get out to help your child exit the vehicle, please pull into the parking lot, then walk your child across the street and onto the playground. Jefferson Street is reserved for buses, walkers, and bike riders.
Afternoon Pick-Up Procedures – The elementary school dismisses 10 minutes earlier than the announced dismissal time. For example, on a 1:30 p.m. dismissal day, elementary students will be dismissed at 1:20 p.m. On regular dismissal days, students are dismissed at 3:20 p.m. At the 3:20 dismissal, bus riders will begin boarding the buses, while car riders will exit through the doors on Shuffleton Street. If you park south of the stairs, students may come down to your vehicle. If you park in the parking lot, we ask that you walk up to the crosswalk so your child can see you, and we can help them safely cross the street to you. If you are parked north of the stairs, please remain in your vehicle and pull forward as we work to safely load students at the stairs. If you are parked a block north of the school, you are welcome to walk to the back doors to pick up your child. Otherwise, your child will need to remain at the stairs until you pull forward to the designated pick-up area. At 3:25 walkers and bike riders will be dismissed out our front doors. We ask that they walk their bikes while on school property to keep all of our walkers safe.
