OPEN POSITIONS

PARAEDUCATORS

The Sigourney Community School District is looking for an Associate for 6.5/day for the 2025-2026 school year for our 7-12 education program. This position will assist all teachers, general classroom and special education, to achieve teaching objections by working with individual students or small groups.

Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. Experience working with students preferred but not required. Experience in school special education or related is preferred but not required. Experience working with behavior and learning challenged students. If you have your BOEE Paraeducator certification you will receive a higher rate of pay. Must complete and pass a criminal history background check.

Coaching Positions

The Sigourney Community School District has the following openings:

  • Junior High Boys Wrestling Coach (2025-2026)

    • Season starts in November and goes through end of December

  • High School Assistant Boys Wrestling Coach (2025-2026)

    • Season starts in November and goes through February

  • JH Volleyball Coach (2025-2026)

    • Season starts in August and goes through October

Requirements: Coaching Authorization or License issued by the State of Iowa and must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

Coaching Authorization Requirements:

  • 18 years of age and a HS diploma or equivalent

  • Concussion training certificate

  • CPR training certificate

  • 55-hour workshop certificate from an approved provider or college coursework which includes the following content: 

    • Structure and function of the human body

    • Prevention and care of athletic injuries

    • Human growth and development

    • Theory/methods and ethics of coaching
